Thanks for asking!

I shaved the base of his tail, and super glued a rubber washer to the base.

Let's consider this: 1) several recent massive crackdowns on botters and sweatshoppers. Much harder for them to farm the gold they need.

2) people still buy gold off ebay, that will never change until Anet tells ebay to make them stop

3) people with tons of ebay gold don't value it because they didn't earn it, so they're quick to pay insane amounts of gold for weapons / upgrades

4) they buy these ludicrously expensive items from (guess who?) the botters and sweatshoppers

5) botters and sweatshoppers pool their collected gold, put it up for sale on ebay, repeat the viscious cycle. I have no doubt that they have a ton of mule accounts with a nearly infinite supply of perfect upgrades stashed away that they are now tapping into because of the recent nerfs and bans. How many +30 pommels and 10/10 Sundering Hafts do you think a full sweatshop, running chests, farming Griffons, and clearing UW 24/7 for almost an entire year could have in storage? Hmmmm... You gotta remember, these are businesspeople; WE are gamers. Their approach is different.
this is exactly what is happening. thanks for saving me a lot of typework...

what I also hate is:

me: "wts 10% furious axe haft = 45k"

guy: "I buy"

me: "ok storage"

guy comes to storage, trade window got opened.

I put 10% furious on it.

guy: "how much?"

me: "I wrote 45k..."

guy: "nvm" and closes window.

This is one of the reasons I stopped with trading.......

As long as this game has no auction house (or other consolidated way of selling player-acquired things across cities, districts and worlds) people will continue to make money like this.

I think this is just another thread of how screwed up this economy has gotten in the absence of an auction house. If only Anet would get the hint.

The point is, The person clearly knew what he wanted for the mod, and then acted retarded when it came to buying it.

I hate:
1) When people ask to see the most random stuff, ALL THE TIME. I could be selling a Vamp Bowstring, and Literally before I get an offer I'll have 20 people Ask to SEE the mod then say they don't want it. WTF IS THIS It isn't like a mod has a skin or anything that can be different

2) When someone is spamming "W.T.S +30 Pommel 100k+XX Ectos" in all chat, then you say "WTS +30 Pommel", that same person that is spamming at 100+XX ectos PMs you and offers you like 50k for it... These got to be foreign retarded sweatshop workers...

Extra Story:
One time I was looking for one of the stupid little 1k SF greens, so I went to Warcamp and said "WTB [whatever it was]" and i get PMs like "10k", "9k, firm price", etc, So just to test how stupid these guys were I started saying "WTB [whatever it was], 10k" and you know, some of them were retarded enough to raise the price and say stuff like "15k and its yours".

I make it a point to sell most rares for several k less than their worth.

I don't know about you,but the fact that I can gain 50x the amount of gold I can get from the Merchant i'm quite content at selling it at that price.

Its quite sad though,a game as recent as this using a prehistoric form of trading.

I have no problems trading in LA, actually its my favorite Stop N Shop place. The very reason you hate it (10 people selling a +30HP pommel for 100k) is the reason I like it.
Competition = GG. Go to where there is only 1 person selling it and you have no choice. In LA its chockful of them.
Say "Want To Buy : 10% DA Sword Hilt" and youll get ~10 pms. Add all those that you can fit into your group and say "Im paying 10k, whose got it."
What happenes a lot of the time is I get it for 7k since they are all there competing. Sometimes, a bunch of them leave, but the one guy who wants to actually sell his wares will sell it for what its "actually" worth.
They have those high prices for dumb people, but since you arent, you can bring them down to its actual worth quite easily.
Happy Shopping!
(and I wouldnt have given you that sword if you werent part of the Punch-Drunk Love group, hahahaha)

Edit :
Oh, and vanity is the most expensive thing in life. Lexus is just a decked out Toyota, but its a "Lexus." Same goes for clothes and other "vanity" accessories. Its not just in America, its the world.
Pardon me if I dont only want my character to have good weapons but look good while I slaughter things too. (Watching my little man chop enemies into pieces wielding a req 8 15^50 gold dual gothic axe (I happen to like that skin) > watching him do it using collector hand axe). If I could buy him Ray-Ban Aviators and a Rolex Id do that too.

Don't like the prices don't buy the items..simple.

There is no rule where everyone has to follow "guru" prices its a free market and people are free to charge whatever they wish.

All this nonsense will happen until we get a *real* trading system, like an Auction House....
Where everyone will be able to check prices quickly,
where sellers will actually have to compete,
where anyone would get a huge choice of goods being sold,
where everything would be quick unlike the need to waste long hours on spamming just to sell or buy anything at a decent price,
where everyone would be able to buy what he needs without speaking to or hearing from those retarded, uber annoying LA/KC spammers, scammerrs, bots ...
But we didn't get ANY major trade system improvement since the introduction of the Rune Trader NPC, bleh /disgusted

The auction house is coming...Anet have given people what they have asked for before and this subject comes up daily.

A few examples..

1. Greens
2. guaranteed rune from salvaging
3. Rune trader
4. Increased drop rate
5. more events

the list goes on... the auction house will come in the next chapter probably with the first big update if they don't include it at the start.

Thread should be named American D1.

Mainly because I make money all the time in LA, my most sucessfull trade was buying a req.8 15^50 Fellblade for 90k and selling it for 100k + 12 ectos
